Good morning,
Ladies and gentlemen. I'm very happy to be here today. My name is Tana,I come from

Xi'an Electric Power and Science Technology College. My focus is " Edutainment-the

Distingushing Feature of CYLE.
There are many characteristics in CYLE, edutainment is one of them. We teachers' task

is to put i t into effect in our teaching. To make students learn English happily is our

purpose.
But how to make students learn English happily? I think the classroom games play a very

important role in our teaching. Language learning is a hard task, which can make students be

frustrated sometimes. Well-chosen classroom games give students a break and at the same time

help students to practise their language skills. Games are highly motivating since they are

amusing and at the same time challenging. Futhermore they employ meaningful and useful

language in real contexts. They also promote the cooperation. But for different students, we

should choose different classroom games.
The younger students, like the Pre-starters and Starters, are very lively and can not

help from making noises or doing sth, else. It is impossible to make them sit there quietly

for a long time. So we should choose many simple and lively games while teaching. We should

keep our students busy during the class. little children have no consciousness to learn

something, But they have very strong curiosity that we can take advantage of it to make them

master the knowledge unconsiously. For example, once I gave a lesson about colours to

students. I didn't begin my lesson like this," Boys and girls, today we're going to learn

something about colours. Look at this picture please, what colour is it?" This is too formal

to make little children accept. on that day, I took some colour balloons to my classroom. I

said," Boys and girls, today I want to blow the balloons with you. Here I have so many

balloons, which one do you like? The red one, yellow one or the blue one?" Someone said,

"red," someone said, "yellow," Then I picked up the red balloon, asked them" Do you like the

red balloon? Yes or no?" They nodded or shaked their heads and said, "Yes" or "No!" Then I

said," Oh, I can't blow the balloons, who can help me?" Some children helped me blow the

balloons proudly, and other students cheered them on. They shouted "Red balloon, come on!",

"Yellow balloon, come on!" In this way, children mastered the words about colours quiclcly

and unconciously. After class, I gave the balloons to my students, they were very happy and

repeated the words they have learned just now. At that moment, I thought I have finished my

work successfully today.
But things will be different if I arrange such kind of games in Movers' or flyers'

class. They may feel it is too childish. They like playing the games, which are full of

interesting and challenging.
Last week I gave Movers a lesson about helping others to find places. I arranged a game

after introducing some key words, like" go straight, turn left, turn right", etc. My

students and I drew a "Z" shaped road on the ground, then we put many flags along the road.

All students were divided into two groups. Each group chose a student, whose eyes were

covered by cloth, to walk through the Z shaped road with their team members' helping. And

they must pick up the flags while they are walking on the road. The team which get to the

ending by shorter time and more flags will be the winner. From this game students not only

learnd how to help others to find place, but also knew the importance of the teamwork. They

enjoyed it very much. Students learnd English happily by this game, and English study is not

a big headache for them any more.
These games aroused the students' interests in English, and interesting is the best

teacher, so they love to learn it.
Only one or two good games are not enough, we must create more efficient classroom

games according to the different contexts, students and situations. Only in this way,

students can learn English happily.
Except for the classroom games, we also need use our similing faces, beautiful body

language. passionate and encouragomten to create a happy atmosphere for our students. In

this way, the edutainment can be embodied.
I'll try my best to carry out the edutainment in my teaching.
